Amant Antennas introduces a novel multi-beam base station antenna technology that can significantly enhance the technical capabilities, and add novel key unique features to the existing cellular base station antenna technology as follows:
- Wide frequency band (0.45-3.8 GHz).
- It can generate an arbitrary number of beams and with arbitrary beam widths.
- It can generate a single wide-beam and/or multiple narrow-beams without adding any significant complexity.
- It can, simultaneously, provide both horizontal and vertical sectorization, which doubles the overall system capacity, and can be used in FD-MIMO which is a key enabling technology in LTE-A and 5G, and is expected to drastically improve the system throughput beyond what is possible in conventional LTE systems.
- Two different techniques can be used together for an arbitrary electric vertical beam tilting. One of these techniques can tilt all beams by equal tilt angles while the other one can tilt them by different tilt angles.
- All beams can be shaped in the vertical plane in order to eliminate the ducting and/or the interference with the surrounding base station antennas.
- The new multi-beam base station antenna can include up to 80 ports or even more, which could facilitate any further needed capacity expansions.
- It can simultaneously have a single wide-beam and multiple narrow beams covering the same sector (180° or 120°).
- Low-cost and light-weight (about 15 Kg).
